Should this forum community reach out to a wider audience?

This has been on my mind for a while: Gwonline - now part of incgamers - has always been a very civil place to hold a discourse. I enjoy hanging out here for that reason.

However, it seems that activity on this forum has significantly dropped since the hay-days of GW1.

On the other hand, Guildwarsguru, another elite site, seems to have resisted activity decline somewhat better. I am definitely noting a bunch of loyal veterans on this forum with 1k+ posts. There seems to be much smaller group of people with less than 300 posts. This suggests that the growth of forum goers here is not as strong as it could be. On the other hand, it of course shows that this site enjoys a loyal following of people which perhaps helps to give this community a much more civil tone.

So my question is simple: Should we as a community (forum goers, forum mods, site admins, company owning this forum) put in some efforts in order to recruit more people to this place?

How would you suggest one would go about doing so if so desired?|||more ≠ better|||Both forums are listed as elite fansites on guildwars.com as well as being top ranked on Google, so it's not like people don't know about this place.

I think it's an issue of quality vs. quantity. I suspect plenty of people lurk here, and seeing as they don't feel the overwhelming urge to get attention at any costs, like a toddler throwing his carrot-mash all over the floor, are happy gathering information and moving on.|||personally, i would suggest not too get near this forum.

just one mistake and you get flames and bashes from every egoistic user in this forum(not calling names), they even use things from 3 years ago against you just because you have a different opinion.

so i don't know what you call civil but for what i have here, it's everything but civil.|||Quote:

Must...resist...urge...

Too late, I'm bleeding profoundly.

On-topic though, I agree with Fluffy (can I call you Fluffy?).

I'm sure there are a lot of people lurking this forum. We get the odd troll here and then but overall the quality is prolly one of the best I've found yet.|||Quote:

Can I call you Liony?

("Am I a lion? I don't think of myself as a lion. You might as well, though. I have a mighty roar.")|||So you you guys see no need to innovate and change what is done here?

Since I am asking the question, my bias is obvious.|||Quote:

I second that. I would rather have a small forum with posters who have brains as opposed to a forum filled with mindless posters.|||Quote:

Activity will undoubtedly pick up with GW2. Not meaning to pick on you by any means, but what strikes me is you ask for more active members (or members to be more active) and yet it doesn't look like you have been really active for being here 6 years. How do you see getting yourself to be more active here? If you have the answer to that, then maybe it can be applied to others. |||Quote:

Altough sometimes people deserve it.
