*however*
Some people have speculated that this relates to an upcoming change to the survivor title, and have gone on about all kinds of change to other titles...
Whether you believe it or not, I figured people needed a place to discuss this... and I propose this thread.
Thanks...|||Hmm.... interesting... as long as they don't take my survivor title off me I don't mind what they do really, could be cool =)|||Makes since as a lot of die hard GW players could never go for it on their mains given they were created before titles even existed. Plus, getting killed because of lag sucks to make it then impossible (unless you weenie the title which is pretty much what everyone does now who goes for it).|||Quote:
I remember the long survivor threads (let's not start a new one pls) and I wouldn't want to see the QQ threads if they changed it now...

Uh-oh, looks like something has been let out of the bag a little bit early...
I fully expect it to be a change to the survivor title.
And I fully support it, despite the fact that all my guys are survivors or being made into one. The idea that a death trashes your chances of a title is just poor design.|||Weenie? What does that mean...?
I have gotten all my survivors (4 maxed, 1 at 2, and a few more at 1) by playing normally, including skill caps, special weekends, and zaishen rewards. I didn't farm any of them. I'm not alone to do it the old fashioned way, it's more fun than farming that's for sure.
Lag is more of an issue if solo farming, H&H or other players can buffer to some extent the effect of lag.
----
From what I remember of the last big survivor thread, there was not much agreement on how to fix that problem, or even if it was a problem.
Sure it's sad for players who's main were created prior to the title... or those who lost it to lag... but the flip side of making it easier for players who died already to try again would often be unfair to those who got it. And the title wasn't judged as that difficult by those who got it already.
The main issue isn't about whether to give second chances or not... but more about keeping the challenge the same. I suggested that survivor could be gotten on a different character of the same profession and then *transferred* to your main, which would keep the challenge the same as for other players.

@Zayren - yeah ok, but I figured since I can't stop it, might as well contain it ;)|||:)
Treasure Hunter used to suck before they made it account wide - Finding chests on your non-gwamm toon = "aww, wasted chest; i should be playing my gwamm-toon instead!"
Seeker of Wisdom used to suck before they made it account wide - Finding gold items on your non-gwamm toon = "transfer to gwamm toon before you ID it! Never ID anything on your non-gwamm toon!"
Anet realized these titles sucked, probably for the reasons I describe here, and fixed them.
Drunkard sucks - Spending time on your non-gwamm toons, watching minutes fly by while you're not drinking the eggnoggs still left over from wintersday = "aww, wasted time; I should be playing my gwamm toon instead!"
Sweet Tooth and Party Animal suck - Finding sweets or tonics on your non-gwamm toon = "transfer to gwamm toon before you use it! Never use any sweets or fireworks or anything on your non-gwamm toon!"
Make Sweet Tooth account wide. I sometimes like to eat a red bean cake and zoom around town on ANY toon without feeling like I'm "wasting" the points on their title track, instead of putting the cake in storage and eating it on my gwamm toon.
Make Party Animal account wide. I sometimes like to drink a tonic or shoot a firework on ANY toon without feeling like I'm "wasting" the points on their title track, instead of putting the toy in storage and using it on my gwamm toon.
Make Drunkard account wide, so I can work on the title without being "chained" to only one toon. Nothing worse than switching to your Monk to help out your pals and spending the entire dungeon wishing you were on your other toon so you could be drinking. Watching the minute hand of the clock tick by, knowing each tick is another minute you'll have to "make up for" on your drunkard track.
/flashes peace sign|||My guess is that survivor title will be changed to "reach 1.337 mil xp since last death", which means it could be retried an infinite number of times on a character.
Personally I would welcome such a change very much, you still have to reach the same amount of xp in "one go", but you don't have to reroll your character if you die. It might be a tad easier because you can first move your char to a suitable xp farming location without the extra risk, but oh well...
(I have done LS on two chars, had to reroll one in the process, wouldn't really "cheapen" my accomplishment imuo)|||@Satenia...
Getting to a farm location isn't that difficult. But levelling from 1 to 20 is part of the challenge imo.
I'm not too worried about cheapening the experience though, but I see no reason to cheapen it either if other better solutions can be worked out.

causal play---I have yet to max either kurzick or luxon
Maxed kurzick, as well as treasure hunter, wisdom, luck, and unluck. None of them I did casually.
Kurzick was DTSC, FA, JQ... mostly... and it was *fun*, but it took too long to do to consider it casual.|||I've 4 LS, 2 on the second tier and a few more on the first. And yet, I would love this change. For me, titles are something for me to reach. Not to impress others (ok, just a little), but mostly because I want them.
If I see a LS somewhere, how would I know if that survivor was reached by boxing only? Or by double XP weekends? Or by Wintersday farming? So, who cares if it was reached after you died for a few more times? Fact is, you've gathered 1.3M points without dieing.
