Idea: Mob Tracker Summoning Stone

[:1]I don't know if Anet people bother to check this site those days, I don't recall seeing them posting.

Anyway, I have an idea and if you folks like it, guess make some noise about it and they'll hear about it eventually.

It'd be awesome to have a summoning stone which summons a npc which helps to track down remaining mobs for when you're vanquishing.

It could be a dog or any other creatures known for their tracking skills. It could be craftable or obtainable via Nicholas the Traveller, something like that.

Even something like Divination from the pain inverter quest would be helpful.

Just tossing this out.

Don't know it it'd work though, the Divination quests have the bosses fixed when you zone and they don't move afterwards, so the same mechanic probably can't be used for it. Similar, quest pointers to moving foes have difficulty tracking those as well, so I don't think an exact method of tracking is readily available.

It's a good idea though, and takes a lot of stress from VQ'ing. And gives us a second actually useful summon after the Merchant...|||Just make the mobs poop realistically. Then we can follow their disgusting trail!

...unless they're smart enough to bury it, that is...oh well.|||How about this? Have a stationary summons, and instead of following them, every mob on the map converges on on the summon's location. Instead of running around chasing them, they'll all come to you! Convenient?|||Quote:

Do you smell that? Smells like a bacon totem pole. Let's rush it!|||That would actually be a useful summoning stone, so I just cannot see them implementing this.

It would be great though.|||Quote:

Just spawn an NPC like a minipet (invulnerable but incapable) but with an aggro range the size of 3 radars, AI: auto-move to nearest enemy. If they want to make it really flashy, call it will-o-wisp and have it leave a small trail of smoke and emanate light in dark areas.|||Quote:

if the summon doesn't track the location but the name, it makes things allot easier.|||Had similar ideas that a guildie and I discussed.

I think a small consumable, like a sweet themed thing, which causes the radar to ping once in the general direction of a/the mob. Maybe a small cooldown on it to stop spamming of it. It's all it needs, doesn't need to be exact, just a quick hint.
